Facial Fat Grafting Scottsdale with Arizona Plastic Surgeon Dr. Sean Lille
A fuller face is a more youthful face, and as we age, we tend to lose subcutaneous fat which brings about a haggard, hollow, or gaunt look. A facelift alone, while eliminating sagging skin, does not restore the supple cheeks you probably had as a young adult. A fat grafting procedure can help create more angular cheeks, healthier eyes, a stronger jaw line and fuller-looking lips. Fat grafting also helps eliminate the appearance of sunken temple/forehead areas. Because these fat graft cells are your own, they will not be rejected. Although some resorption occurs, fat grafts last considerably longer than most fillers. In addition, it is soft and feels natural, and does not cause immune problems. When performed as an isolated procedure, fat grafts can be performed under local anesthesia. Fat transfer, however, is very often performed in conjunction with a face and or neck lift, as well as, with the eyelid lift procedure.

This patient received fat grafting to her cheeks, orbital rim areas and prejowl regions to create a smoother, more supple, youthful and natural look.
Following fat graft procedures, you will go home on the same day with a friend or family member. If the fat grafts are performed as an isolated procedure under local anesthesia, Dr. Lille suggests taking four to five days before returning to work. Swelling is very common after fat transfer, and often resolves after two weeks; however it may take up to 12 weeks for the final results of the fat graft procedure to be evident. Light aerobic activity (elliptical, walking, bicycle) may be resumed as early as 1 week following fat grafts, and more strenuous activity is begun at two to three weeks.
